Dennis Bio
Born on July (th 1959, Dennis Weddle is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans in stained glass, fused glass, metal sculpture, sign design, and fine art painting. His work reflects a lifelong exploration of material, structure, and spiritual meaning - transforming raw elements into compositions that balance precision and organic movement.
At the age of six, his mother discovers his first drawings hidden beneath household furniture - proof of natural creative impulse that could not be contained. Though he left formal schooling after the 9th grade, he pursued every available art class and continued to teach himself direct experimentation. His youth was adventurous and at times extremely turbulent, but remained his constant source of focus and expression.
Dennis was first drawn to architectural subjects like old buildings, bridges, and castles - which he reimagined through color shifts and abstraction. These early works established the foundation for his visual language and style; a dialogue between order and emotion, between manmade form and the unpredictability of nature.
At 17 years old, Dennis joined Atlas Irion Masters in Oklahoma City, where he was introduced to metalwork. Surrounded by industrial materials, he began creating sculptures from scape iron, discovering medium that combined craftsmanship, physicality, and freedom form. The process of transforming discarded steel into expressive shapes resonated deeply with his belief in renewal and resilience.
Relocating to Wenatchee, Washington in 1996, he joined Terry Signs, a commercial art studio specializing in hand-painted signage and vehicle graphics. Working alongside seasoned artist refined his skills in design, lettering, and color composition, while deepening his appreciation for connection between art and craft. During this time he discovered fused glass experimenting melting glass in his coworkers pottery kilns. Discovering the luminous textures, transparency and fluidity of melting glass.
Soon after, a local pastor commissioned him to design stained glass windows for the church. His design for a 9 window abstract depicting Christ and the 12 Apostles earned immediate acclaim and marked the beginning of his reputation as a glass artist.
Since then. Dennis has completed numerous commissioned works four churches and a wide range of private collectors.
With a passion and love of glass, his techniques, merging vibrant color, texture, structural and organic rhythm, his compositions share a common thread of geometry and imperfection, discipline and intuition.
Much of his work is draw upon Christian them, reflecting a faith that has guided him through an extraordinary life. From being homeless in Texas, to having a farm and two successful companies in Washington state.
Dennis reflects; "Art gives me peace and purpose in a chaotic world. Endurance and redemption through Christ. Faith, light and color is good for the soul. I am truly grateful for all His blessings
